About 3 million people visit the Taj Mahal every year. This blog was viewed about 39,000 times in 2010. If it were the Taj Mahal, it would take about 5 days for that many people to see it.

In 2010, there were 2 new posts, growing the total archive of this blog to 77 posts. There were 23 pictures uploaded, taking up a total of 23mb. That’s about 2 pictures per month.

The busiest day of the year was March 14th with 390 views. The most popular post that day was Dubrovnik, Croatia – old town panorama’s from the fort.

The top referring sites in 2010 were facebook.com, bestwwwoffers.com, search.aol.com, 74.125.67.100, and en.wordpress.com.

Some visitors came searching, mostly for old door, dubrovnik, splendour of the seas, panorama, and santorini.

The Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House

Dawn Princess after coming out of Darling Harbour and

under the Sydney Harbour Bridge… I think we all held our

breath waiting to see if she really could squeeze under.

This is a panorama of Dawn Princess at the OPT

surrounded by yellow Sydney Ferries.

The ship reminds me of a mother duck,

and the little ferries look like her ducklings…

On a more serious note Sydney Ferries have

been operating in the harbour for since 1861,

that’s 149 yrs if I’ve done my sum’s right.

Cockle Bay, Darling Harbour is well worth a look…

Royal Caribbean’s Rhapsody of the Seas in Circular Quay…

This is an awesome location, you can see the

main ferry terminal just in front and the famous

Rock’s area behind Rhapsody.  The only downside is

that you don’t get to go under the Sydney Harbour bridge

unless your ship is birthing in Darling Harbour…

Doyle’s Restaurant in Watson’s Bay is a lovely destination

to head to on the Ferry from Circular Quay.

Here is a panorama of Watson’s Bay with Doyle’s restaurant

on the left. After having fish ‘n chips for lunch we walked

up the path to visit Sydney’s infamous “GAP”.

“The Gap” is an ocean cliff in Eastern Sydney that gives you

excellent views of the ocean and views of back over

Sydney harbour too. The day we were there we were

lucky enough to watch one whale jumping

and  two that just waved their tales.

If I only had time for one ferry trip on Sydney Harbour,

I think I would choose the ferry to Watson’s Bay

and walk up to the gap…

Especially if its whale season!!!

As pretty as it was, my tummy was full of butterflies

because we were heading for that

infamous stretch of water between Sydney and Hobart!!!

A cross section of the Colosseum and a disappointed crowd

after the Colosseum was closed early because of the free

concert  by Billy Joel and Bryan Adams in  August 2006.

We were only in Rome for 2 days and this was our last day

and we had saved the best till last

-  the Inside of the Colosseum.

We were shocked to be locked out event though we had

only purchased our tickets an hour before being

refused entry – Not happy Jan!!!

However the highlight of our walk around Palatine Hill,

was the sound of  Billy Joel & Bryan Adams  rehearsing.

Unfortunately we were unable to stay for the concert -

the City of Rome were expecting a crowd of 400,000

to turn out.

Narni is said to be the “middle of Italy”, it’s roughly

80km from Rome…

unfortunately we arrived just as the castle was closing

for the day, so we only managed a quick run around

before the doors of the fortress were closed.

Splendour of the Seas in the harbour of Kusadasi,

Turkey. This is a great place to explore the ancient ruins

of the library and Greko Roman theatre of

Ephesus and the House of the Virgin Mary.

*   *   *

Travel Tip: Go early in the morning before it gets

too hot  and crowded.  Choose a tour

that drops you off up above the ruins

so you can meander down through them and

back to the shady markets where all the tour buses park.

It was astounding to see public toilets that

have been built from stone

way back in the Greko – Roman period.

What an amazingly cool cat, to sit happily amongst all

these tourists. Our Australian cats are such

shy creatures in comparison.

theatre – it give you a great perspective…I have added

This machine shows how the silk is un ravelled from the

cocoon of the humble silk worm to be transformed

into works of art.

A street scene towards evening in Kusadasi, I wish we

could have stayed longer here. The locals have

excellent english so they can joke around and

have fun with you while bartering…

Turkey was also deserves a special mention

as one of the cleanest

and most welcoming country’s.
